Quasquicentennial Logo Selected

Quasquicentennial Logo

The McCook Area Chamber of Commerce, in coordination with McCook Postmaster, James Casson, have selected the logo to be used in connection with McCook’s 125th birthday celebration in 2007. The winning logo was unveiled during Heritage Days activities. Monica Mercer, Parks, Nebraska submitted the winning entry which will be used as a cancellation stamp for 60 days at the McCook Post Office beginning in January. Monica will have the opportunity to cancel the first piece of postage as well as own the stamp once the 60 days have expired. The actual logo, is owned by the McCook Chamber of Commerce and will be used on all promotional memorabilia marketed by the Quasquicentennial Committee throughout the celebration.

Quasquicentennial” has become the buzz word around McCook for the past several months. It is with excited anticipation that McCook will proudly celebrate her 125th Birthday in 2007! For the past several months, a large number of people have been meeting regularly to plan activities to commemorate this special year. As we make plans to celebrate this milestone in the history of our community, we would like to invite you to come on board. Not only will the festivities being planned create wonderful memories, as well as educational and social benefits for our community, they will have a huge economic impact on businesses in the McCook area. We would love to have your personal input on any of the sub-committees that have been formed but, equally as important, we would also appreciate your financial support.

The Fundraising/Promotional Committee for the Quasquicentennial has established various sponsor levels so that every business, and even individuals, can contribute at a level that fits their respective budget. We hope that you will make the decision to become an integral part of this historical occasion. Please note that you may elect to spread your financial support over several months wherein you will be invoiced on a quarterly basis beginning January 1. It is only through generous contributions from varying segments of our community that we will be able to follow through with the plans being made.

Thank you in advance for your willingness to support such a worthy effort. The twelve months of 2007 promise to be a period of great opportunity wherein we celebrate our proud history even as we launch McCook into the next 25 years. We look forward to hearing from you. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Chamber at 345-3200, or by e-mail at info@aboutmccook.com.
