Santa Claus Lane

We are pleased to announce that a McCook resident has stepped up to the challenge of repairing Santa Claus Lane signs which endured a good deal of harsh criticism through the holiday season.

Debbon McConnell and her family has volunteered to take on the project and will be working on signs both, old and new, over the next year. The repairs will be funded through a special account set aside from the Norma Strunk estate which is facilitated by the Chamber of Commerce. Trustees, Phil Harr and Mark Graff, inventory and inspect the signs each year. Due to the high cost of repairing the signs, it has only been possible to repair a few each year depending on the extent of the damage. Grant Strunk, son of Norma Strunk, has now given the green light to proceed with the project on a large scale and will make certain that funds are available to do so.

Again, McCook is the benefactor of the generosity of the people who call our community their home. Be sure to extend a warm thank you to both the Strunk and McConnell families as another McCook tradition is given new life.
