Community Hospital Rehabilitation Center

We were pleased to introduce hundreds of people from our
community to the Community Hospital Rehabilitation Center during
the grand opening on April 29. It was a pleasure to highlight our
rehab services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy,
cardio/pulmonary rehab and speech, to our guests. More
importantly, tour groups were introduced to our rehab staff who
had the pleasure of explaining the new features and equipment
available in our Rehabilitation Center.
The new Rehabilitation Center will allow Community Hospital to
provide our rehab patients high quality care in an environment
with enhanced privacy, increased space, and a warm
non-institutional feel very conducive to therapy. Lots of new
colors and natural lighting will be very noticeable to patients
utilizing the center.
The $3.8 million Rehabilitation Center features:
- A large open physical therapy gym area with a variety of
equipment for rehabilitation and strengthening.
- Private treatment areas for patients.
- Triple the former space of the physical, occupational and
speech therapy departments.
- An aquatic pool equipped with a treadmill and underwater
cameras to monitor gait and measure progress.
- A cardiac/pulmonary department, which is double the size of
the former area.
- An occupational therapy hand therapy station.
- An independent living skills assessment and training unit.
Patients needing rehabilitation services have the convenience
of one parking area, one entrance, one admissions desk and one
phone number. For their ease, they should park on the northeast
side of the hospital and enter through the new Rehabilitation
Center entrance. There is no direct entrance to the Rehabilitation
Center from the hospital’s front parking lot.
Special parking close to the Rehabilitation Center entrance has
been designated for rehab patients and as handicapped parking.
Patients should check in at the main Rehabilitation Center
admissions/reception desk. Any of the rehab departments may be
reached by calling one phone number at 308-344-8383 where a
receptionist is available to direct calls.
We hope that if you have not had the chance to tour our new
Rehabilitation Center, you will contact us. We would love to give
you the opportunity to see firsthand what a superior rehab
facility we have for our friends and neighbors right here in
McCook, Nebraska.
The center has the capacity to meet the future growing needs
for rehabilitation and therapy services. This will further enhance
Community Hospital’s ability to meet the needs of our region of
Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas for years to come.

Bellevue University
Happy 125th Birthday, McCook!! As a long time resident of Red
Willow County, I have had the opportunity to observe McCook‘s
progress, and with vision and foresight, McCook will continue to
grow and prosper well into the future. Bellevue University
also has reached a milestone this year. We are celebrating our
40th year of existence. Bellevue University was founded in 1966
as Bellevue College by the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce with a
vision to academic opportunities for traditional and
non-traditional students. In 1994, Bellevue College achieved
University status with the addition of graduate degree programs.
In 1996, the University set course on the newly forming
“information super highway” by offering degrees via the
internet. Today Bellevue continues to grow with an expanding
main campus, additional satellite locations, including one in
McCook, and a world-class on-line learning model that serves
nearly 4,000 students from around the globe who are enrolled in
more than 400 courses. Educational opportunities enhance the
opportunities for communities to thrive. With that in mind
Bellevue University provides McCook Community College graduates
and non-traditional students who want to return to complete
their degrees an opportunity to complete their degrees and
remain in this great community. Anyone with an Associates degree
can complete a bachelor’s degree in as little as 15 months right
