Volunteer Luncheon at Pizza
Hut
As a token gesture to express our appreciation to
the many volunteers who help us achieve success with various
Chamber activities throughout the year, the Chamber hosts an
annual Volunteer Luncheon. Again this year Mike Kennedy, Manager,
Pizza Hut/KFC/Taco Bell worked with us to make our April 18
luncheon a great success. Nearly 40 volunteers accepted our
invitation and enjoyed not only lunch, but also, spirited
conversation and the commradery of others. The Chamber Board of
Directors and the Chamber staff are very grateful for the services
provided by our many volunteers and wholeheartedly acknowledge
that without them and our loyal members, we would be unable to
serve our community effectively. THANK YOU!

Seth Denney, a McCook High School graduate and the weeknight
news anchorman on NTV out of Kearney, takes a few minutes to
sign autographs for students of Central Elementary. |

The Road Less Traveled program which aired on the Kearney NTV
station on April 18 featured the 4th & 5th grade students at
Central Elementary in McCook. The students formed the State of
Nebraska and held a sign designating ‘McCook’ as well as signs
saying “We love NTV!”

McCook's own Seth Denney, a graduate of MHS, came
home to film the Nebraska Television program "The Road Less
Traveled" in McCook on Monday, April 16. The show, which is in its
3rd year of broadcasting, visits a new community each week and
then airs the program during its news features at 5:00, 6:00 and
10:00 p.m. Seth and his cameraman, Tom Snell, filmed over six
hours while visiting a number of landmarks around McCook. Snell is
a graduate of McCook Community College.
Snell and Denney were both excited to revisit old
acquaintances and memories. They were also quite impressed by the
progress that has been made in McCook over the years. Denney was a
'celebrity chef' for the Chamber's Homespun Fun BBQ Contest last
summer during Crazy Days and has agreed to emcee the Governor's
Ball being planned by the 125th Celebration Committee for December
8, 2007.
